Ladies and gentlemen: I need you! For those of you that haven’t played the Fantasy Acting League before, please read this article and decide if it is the thing for you.
The idea is simple. Every year, bloggers from all over unite (but even if you are not a blogger, please sign up a team – I want more teams than ever to make this league even more exciting!), and pick three actors and three actresses they think will do really well over the year. And that’s all the effort required. After that, sit back and tune in each month as I do the scoring. Let me break down the scoring below:
These results are figured out using Empire Magazine, a British based movie magazine.
Lead Role – 3 points
Supporting Role – 2 points
Cameo – 1 point
Five Stars – 3 points
Four Stars – 2 points
Three Stars – 1 point
Two Stars – 0 points
One Star – You lose 1 point
Empire Magazine compliments the performance – 2 points
Empire Magazine criticises the performance – You lose 2 points
However, this year I want to add a brand new rule. When you have picked your three actors and three actresses, I want you to highlight one particular performance from one of those actors you want to score double points. For example, let’s say I have Chadwick Boseman in my team. I am confident that Empire magazine are going to give Black Panther a high rating, because they consistently give Marvel movies four stars reviews, as well as compliment the lead actor. Therefore, I highlight Black Panther as my double rating film. However, it might backfire and become a dud role, maybe even a dud performance. A poor double rating movie might prove critical when other teams get great combinations of scores throughout the year.
Please send your teams to email@example.com or DM my Twitter account @LukeBbtt. Do not post your teams in the comments. I only want the opening ceremony to reveal everyone’s teams, to stop the latecomers cherry-picking the most picked actors and getting unfair advantage. The key to winning this league is the research beforehand and I am not letting that hard work get ruined. To make it even fairer, my team has already been chosen, so not even I get to cheat (I tell you what – I am going to be bloody tough to beat this year!). Also, I need prompt team selection, so we can get this off the ground before Round One drops (the next issue of Empire magazine comes out). Therefore the deadline for 2018’s league is January 8th. Do not miss it! I want to see you there!
And now for a bit of fun. I have collated a few statistics from last year’s scoring, so you can peruse over which actors helped their teams the most and which actors totally dropped the ball. Enjoy.
Chloe Grace Moretz
