We are in the heat of the Fantasy Acting League now. And truthfully, I cannot call the winner just yet. It is tighter than ever, more condensing of the top pack. We even have a surprise joint winner for the first time ever. Which two bloggers are neck and neck in pole position? Read on to find out. Also, yes, as I was attacked savagely by Rhyme and Reason and Cinema Parrot Disco for forgetting that John Goodman was in Transformers 5. I apologise, I have lost count of the films he is in. He only gathered two points in that film, but yes, two points is more than zero points, so it shall be amended this week. Handily, Goodman also starred in Atomic Blonde, so I smushed his points together. The results: read on to find out.

Round Analysis

Boom! Rooney Mara is turning into one of the safers bets two years running. It’s not as though she has been quiet this year, but this month, she has swooped in with two powerful lead performances, doubling the points anyone expected of her. While both of her films weren’t quite good enough to earn a soaring of points (Empire awarded each with three stars – perhaps generously with A Ghost Story), it still catapulted a few players to dizzy heights. Especially when it comes to the top. While Lily from What About Movies is probably slightly frustrated that Rooney Mara couldn’t get one four star review (or that I remembered John Goodman from last week), meaning she would have pipped ahead, she must be grateful to have a new lease of life. Depending on how next week goes, she could be the newest contender in the running for the title. But Cinema Parrot Disco is still on top, alphabetically speaking anyway, and far from slowing down with her own ten point lead (Samuel L. Jackosn is turning into a very strong choice from CPD).

  1. Woohoo! I’m loving Samuel L. Jackson. 😁 But, Luke – you’ll be glad to know my actors have only a few more movies coming out this year. I’ll be getting very few points the rest of this year! ☹️ Oh! But…. John Goodman was in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. (Honest. I saw it & can confirm). Hehe! (Sorry…) 😉
